May and June offer a great variety of good programmes. In order to get acquainted with the different wines in that area you may start with a popular wine festival in May, the Villány Borzsongás Festival. Feeling hungry after drinking at the end of May you must visit the Gastronomic Festival in Harkány and enjoy the traditional event of Maypole dancing.
Pentecost brings more programs as you can take part in the Pentecost Festival that is hosted by the Harkány Thermal and Open air bath. It’s a cultural event with the shows of different groups of different nationalities like Hungarian, German and Croatian.
At the same weekend you can cheer yourself up with some delicious wine if you visit the Festival of Open Wine cellars in Villánykövesd and Palkonya.
The first weekend of July is the high time of the year for having a cool bath as the Harkány Bath Festival takes place.
Soon after that in the middle of the month you can refresh yourself by some wine at the Villány Rosé Marathon. No matter which settlement you choose yourself for a daytrip in the first week of August, the ‘Tenkesalja’ Festival takes place at 3 plots at the same time: in Harkány, in Siklós and in Villány.
One of the most significant cultural events of the whole area is the ‘Ördögkatlan’ festival that takes place at the beginning of August in small villages like Kisharsány, Nagyharsány and Palkonya.
From May till October you never get bored in the Siklós Castle, but you may have a hard time to select among the wide range of concerts, operettas and shows.
You can make your stay more enjoyable if you visit the brand new Thermal Spa Siklós with its adventure pools as well.
August is the favourite month of youngsters: Teenager Beach parties are organised for youngsters on Sundays in the Harkány Thermal and open air bath.
August 20th as a national holiday is part of a long weekend when you are entertained by ceremonies and different concerts. The last weekend in August is about Hungarian gastronomy with the Chicken Paprikash as top of it in the historical Siklós Castle garden.
